Keep Taxation System Convenient & Simple The SC recently advised the central government to keep the taxation system convenient & simple. It is observed by bench consisting of justices Sanjay Kaul & Hrishikesh Roy that just as the government does not wish for avoidance of tax equally it is the responsibility of the regime to design a tax system for which a subject can budget & plan. If proper balance is achieved between these, unnecessary litigation can be avoided without compromising on generation of revenue. Above observations were made SC in case of petition filed by various banks in the matter related to section 14A of the Income Tax Act. These observations are very apt in the current scenario under the GST regime. We are witnessing series of amendments, issue of various notifications, trade notices etc at frequent intervals & most of the time, said amendments/notifications are made applicable from various dates, which .......
